The first challenge
A rest and an earning
I began doing the challenges last year, and I adore the concept I created; however, digital badges, however hard I attempted to make them look good, fell off. It didn’t capture the vision I had, and it didn’t feel like an actual reward. This is why I am going to be doing the complete vision, which is physical badges. I will send mail every April, August, and November/December. In the four months between mailings, there will be two challenges. The mail will also consist of poems and prompts in a nice little envelope. For likely obvious reasons, I will only send physical mail to paid subscribers. If you are on the free tier, then you can still do the challenge without the badge, but the badges are cool, and there are a bunch of other paid perks that are totally worth it, including close friends and extra newsletters. Mostly, paid is just a way to support me and help me keep doing this, since it takes a lot of work. Now let’s get into the challenge.
As we are back to the start, I want you to give me an introduction. The twist on the challenge is that I want you to provide an introduction from an outside perspective. Act as if a detective is interviewing you to describe someone who committed a crime, then let me know what your crime is. You can go serious or silly with this, you can title it ‘the person who ate all the donuts’ or ‘the sidekick of loneliness.’ For instance:
The serial cookie eater
He stood at least six feet. He chewed loudly, leaving crumbs everywhere. In his shadow, illuminated by the fridge light, he seemed scruffy and almost animalistic. He drank the entire carton of milk and climbed out of the window even though the door was open. He apologised on his way out and had a haunted house of a voice. You could hear the ghosts in his corridors in every syllable….
This tells you a lot about who I am without me directly telling you. We all know this writing is intended with humour in mind, so that we can boil it down to, I like cookies and milk, and I never know how to exit a situation subtly. You can hear a person's struggle in their voice, and I have taken that to a metaphorical level here. Complete this challenge and earn your profile badge.
I have left this quite vague as for the challenges I want to see what people conjure up, but I have made a prompt and challenge chat, which you can contact me and other fellow Woofenberry’s on should you find yourself stuck. You can access that by clicking here! You can also leave a comment below. Whichever one you prefer. Have fun, I cannot wait to see what you create.
Keep Kind & Stay True x
